In the latest episode of my podcast, ‘Just For Today, I delve into the heart of this universal experience and offer my personal perspective on how failure is not only inevitable but essential for personal growth.
As per every episode of my podcast, I share my own personal experience of fear and self-doubt, and how that recently crept as I decided to focus my energy on the podcast and one-on-one client work. I also open up (maybe TMI 😉 ) about the premenstrual phase, a time when insecurities and fears are magnified, and how it took me down a path of even contemplating the possibility of failure.
Instead of succumbing to fear, I consciously flip the script, because I believe that failure is a necessary stepping stone, a form of feedback that propels us forward. I feel that without failure, we would miss out on learning, gratitude, and the chance to pursue even better opportunities.
Throughout the episode, I share what some may call my wisdom from my own experiences as a mother, watching my children navigate their own paths, including the pressures of academic achievements, and I recall the intense desire to protect my children from failure and the realisation that sometimes, letting them fail is the most loving act of all. It's a lesson in resilience and allowing natural consequences to guide personal development.
I also touch on the outdated view of failure, especially in terms of marriage, and how I have now reframed my own 'failed' marriage as one of my greatest achievements. I encourage my listeners to chase balance, connection, and self-awareness, rather than constant happiness, which can be fleeting.
The episode is not just a monologue; it's an invitation to an upcoming event in Chelmsford called "Disconnect to Reconnect," where myself and six other women will guide attendees on a journey of self-discovery. More info on this event can be found here https://www.stephgrainger.co.uk/disconnect-to-reconnect
If you're looking for a sign to take that leap of faith, to embrace the possibility of failure in the pursuit of growth, this podcast episode is it. By listening in you might just find the courage to fail forward into a richer, more fulfilling life.
So, tune in, share with someone who might need to hear this, and remember to engage with life's full spectrum. We only have now, don't let the fear of failure keep you from living your present to the fullest.
