Navigating Life's Challenges: Learning to Pull Up

steph3475

Life has a way of throwing curveballs when we least expect them. And as I write this, I can't help but reflect on the whirlwind of emotions and experiences I've been through over the past few weeks. From my dads lung cancer diagnosis to the emotional toll it has taken on me, it's been a challenging time, to say the least.

When my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer, it felt like my world had been turned upside down. The last few weeks have been a blur of hospital appointments, emotional highs and lows, and a constant battle to keep my head above water. It's easy to get caught in a slump, feeling overwhelmed by the weight of it all. But it's during these times that we need to pull up and find our strength.

One of the most valuable lessons I've learned is the importance of having a strong support system. My circle have been invaluable to me, and kept reminding me to acknowledge my emotions, learn from them, and then move forward. It's about not getting stuck in the feelings but using them as a stepping stone to growth (very wise words of wisdom that I would usually impart on my clients, but couldn't access them for myself at times.

In this weeks episode of my podcast 'just For Today', I also touch on the dynamic shift that occurs when our parents start to need us more than we need them. It's a bitter pill to swallow, but it's a reality many of us face. The role reversal can be challenging, but it's also an opportunity to show up for our loved ones in a new and meaningful way.

As I reconnect with my passion for podcasting (after a short, necessary sabbatical) , I can feel my energy returning, because podcasting allows me to share my journey, offer tangible tools, and connect with listeners who may be going through similar experiences. It's a reminder that we are not alone in our struggles and that there is always a way forward.

For those of you juggling the demands of parenting during school holidays, I offer a special service called "Steph in Your Pocket." It's a way for you to have continuous support, whether through in-person sessions or via voice notes. Parenting can be tough, and having someone to lean on can make all the difference.

Remember, it's not about dismissing your emotions but using them to propel yourself into a better mental space.
